Keith Jeffers, CHRP
A former Assistant Deputy Minister, Keith Jeffers brings more than twenty-five years of successful experience in employment equity and diversity, change management and strategic human resources management. He has worked successfully in Canada, the U.S., the Caribbean, Guyana and South Africa. His industry experience includes auto rental; construction; education; electronics; finance; health care; heavy equipment rental, leasing and sales; international development; IT; and the public and not for profit sectors. An experienced consultant, his background includes KPMG.
Keith founded Employment Matters Consulting in 2001 to help organizations leverage diversity to become better employers. He ensures a successful compliance audit so that his clients secure and maintain their status as contractors in good standing and retain their right to bid on federal contracts; strengthen their HR infrastructure; develop employer of choice strategies; access talent from the hidden workforce of women, Aboriginal Peoples, visible minorities, persons with disabilities and recent immigrants; and improve organizational performance.
Clients value his strong business and senior management perspective, his knowledge of strategic and operational HR issues, his practicality and his ability to satisfactorily link employment equity to business success. An acknowledged subject matter expert, Keith was interviewed (May 2010) for a recent Canadian HR Reporter article and contributed to the 2006 University of Bristol (UK) study of Employment Equity and Affirmative Action across Europe and North America. His expertise spans all employment equity/ diversity activities from strategy development, the workforce survey and analysis, consultation and communication through to training, the employment systems review, plan development and maintenance.
Keith taught human resources management to business executives, college and university students. He was an instructor in Human Resources at a community college and guest lectured at York University, Ontario, University of Victoria, British Columbia and the University of the West Indies.
